Finalists named for Phenix City schools Superintendent

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

The Phenix City Board of Education is pleased to announce the four finalists for the position of Superintendent.

In alphabetical order the finalists are:

Kenneth Burton, Ed. S., Opelika, Alabama. Burton is the current Assistant Superintendent of Opelika Schools.

Christopher Quinn, Ph. D., Stafford, Virginia. Dr. Quinn serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Stafford County Schools currently.

Craig Ross, Ph. D., Daphne, Alabama, the current principal at Robertsdale High School.

And finally, Irma Townsend, Ed. D., Enterprise, Alabama who is the current Human Resource Director for Enterprise City Schools.

The Board will release additional information relating to the qualifications and experiences for each finalist.

Interviews of the finalists are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, for Mr. Burton; Wednesday, May 21, for Dr. Townsend; and Thursday, May 22, for Dr. Ross. Travel arrangements are being scheduled for Dr. Quinn.      

The times and locations of the interviews are currently being determined.  That information will be released as soon as it is available.

Parents, students, employees and all citizens of Phenix City are invited to attend the interviews. An opportunity for the public to meet the finalists will be available.

    An unwelcome visitor was cause for some tense moments and quick action in the King household Saturday morning. Krystal King says it was about 7 a.m. when Stephen, her oldest son, came into his parents' room to notify them about the "big snake in the bathroom."
