DALE CO., AL, (WSFA) -

The Dale County Sheriff's Office says the suspect in a 2005 stabbing death is under arrest and charged with capital murder.

The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and Dale Co. Sheriff's deputies arrested 57-year-old Midland City resident Frederick Bernard Hightower Friday, May 9.

Hightower is charged with the September 3, 2005 murder of Billy Ray Jackson, 72. Jackson was beaten and stabbed multiple times in what authorities believe was a robbery.

The Sheriff's Department said in a released statement that it and other law enforcement agencies "have worked diligently to find witnesses and gather information that would lead to the arrest of Jackson's killer."

Hightower is being held in the Dale County Jail without bond.
