COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local military widow spoke to us about the death of her husband and how it's connected to a new book hitting stores tomorrow, May 13.
Staff Sergeant Jesse Williams was killed by a sniper in Baghdad seven years ago.
Since then, his wife Sonya, who lives in Columbus, has been a single mom to their soon-to-be 8-year-old daughter Amaya.
They're involved in several military organizations, to help other grieving families, including the Travis Manion Foundation, named for one of the men featured in the new book "Brothers Forever."
"Through foundations like this and being able to spread the word in this way, I feel like that's the best way I can focus my grief and move forward," said Sonya.
"Brothers Forever" is about two naval academy roommates – one becoming a Marine, the other a Navy Seal – both dying in combat, buried side-by-side.
The book will be in major book stores in our area, starting tomorrow.
Hear from the author and more from Sonya Williams about her husband's death, tonight on News Leader 9 at 11.
