AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - On Monday, May 12, 2014 the Auburn Police Division arrested Deborah A. Tate, 48, from Tuskegee on a felony warrant charging her with second degree theft of property.

The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation by police into a theft of property report made May 9, 2014 that occurred at a residence in the 1600 Block of Professional Parkway. The victim told officers that an unknown individual took U.S. currency and a debit card from his wallet while at his residence.

An investigation into the incident by the Auburn Division revealed that the debit card was later used at a business in Opelika to make purchases over $1,500. During the course of the investigation, Deborah A. Tate, who was a Caregiver for the victim, was developed as a suspect.

She was identified as being the individual using the victim's stolen debit card to make the unauthorized purchases. She was subsequently located by police and taken into custody.

Tate was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $3,000 bond.
