Airman’s attorney responds after officer not indicted

(WTVM) - Airman Michael Davidson's attorney Ronald L. Clark sent the following in response to a Lee County Grand Jury not indicting Officer Hancock in a shooting that severely injured his client.

"The Davidson family received the news that a Lee County Grand Jury declined to indict Officer Phillip Hancock. We have set forth our factual and legal contentions regarding the events that occurred on March 6, 2014, in our Complaint filed on behalf of Michael Davidson in Federal Court in the Middle District of Alabama. We filed that Complaint because it is our contention that the proper place to try this case is a Court of law and not in news releases. That will continue to be our position. For various reasons we are neither surprised by the result from the Grand Jury nor assuaged in our pursuit of justice for Airman Michael Davidson. Service was perfected upon both the City of Opelika and Officer Hancock on May 6, 2013. They have 21 days to answer the Complaint, after which we very much look forward to a process where both sides of the story are presented."
