Carolyn Hugley honored at Columbus Community Center

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Residents in the community came to the Columbus Community Center for dinner and to honor a local leader Tuesday night, May 13.

Twice a year, the Community Center recognizes someone who supports the youth and families in the Valley. This year, they honored Georgia State Representative Carolyn Hugley for her contributions to our community.

"It's an honor for me to be honored tonight by the Columbus Community Center," said Hugley. "The children are so very important to me, and to our future, and I hope that we are able to raise some money for the Columbus Community Center so they can continue the fine work that they do."

Hugley was elected into the House of Representatives in 1991 with 80 percent of the votes. She is married to Columbus native and city manager Isaiah Hugley.

All proceeds from the dinner go to the youth programs at the center.
