COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus Police have arrested a man who has admitted to burglarizing 12 churches in the Columbus area.

Preston Kennedy is charged with first and second degree burglary as well as driving with a suspended license. Surveillance footage from Evangel Temple church burglary led to Kennedy's identification. The second suspect in that video has also been identified.

Police say the rash of church burglaries and church vandalisms within the past four months were committed by a small group of people. Kennedy has admitted to the following burglaries:

Glenn Anthony Baptist Church                  1109 39th St.
Happy Valley Day Facility                        3301 13th Ave
Church of Jesus Christ                            3007 Howard Ave.
American Van Rental                              3501 Hamilton Rd.
Greater Beallwood Baptist Church             4419 Sherwood Ave.
Wynnton Road Ministries                         3501 17th Ave.
The Living Word Church                          3985 Hamilton Rd.
Rose Hill United Methodist Church             2101 Hamilton Rd.
Chattahoochee Valley Jail Ministries          2101 Hamilton Rd.
Evangel Temple                                     5350 Veterans Pkwy
Shekinah Glory Worship Center                 5878 Morningside Dr.
Mormon Latter Day Saints                       4400 Reese Rd.

He is also being charged for stealing motor vehicles from American Van Rentals and Glenn Anthony Baptist Church. He is accused of breaking into more than 100 cars, and officers say they are pushing for a judge to give him a higher bond.

One adult has been arrested and warrants are being obtained for one other adult and juvenile. Two additional juveniles are also possibly involved, and the investigation into their names and involvement continues.

Police are also searching for Reginald Weeks Lewis, whos police say helped Kennedy break into the churches.
