RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

The Russell County Sheriff's Department recently arrested a man for his involvement with ice, a high quality version of meth.

In March 2014, Russell County police intercepted 36 ounces of ice, valued at $100,800, that were being delivered to 37-year-old Royce Oakes.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Oakes was captured at the Abercombie Apartment complex on May 13, after attempting to evade police in his vehicle. He had six ounces of meth on his person, valued at $16,800.

Oakes was out on bond from a November 2013 arrest for possessing 93 grams of ice worth more than $9,000, ecstasy and hyrdocodon. Since 2010, Oaks has been arrested several times for possessing drugs including meth, marijuana, and Xanax.

Authorities say Oakes had several people working for him over the last several months. His current bonds were revoked.

This is an ongoing investigation.
