COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Columbus Fire Department now suspects an arsonist may have set two empty trailers on fire overnight.

Firefighters arrived at the burning trailers, located at 3170 Victory Dr., at around 4 a.m. after a passing driver called 911. One trailer was engulfed in flames, and the other was badly burned. One trailer has furniture inside of it and the other was too burned to determine.

Columbus Fire Chief Ricky Shores believes the site may be a storage lot for trailers and repossessions.

No one lived inside the trailers, and no one was injured. The wind pushed the flames away from the Victory Crossing apartment complex, which is located behind the trailers.

The suspect was seen near Airview Drive and Victory Drive at around 4 a.m. The suspect was driving a gold or tan-colored Dodge Neon or Dodge Stratus. The car has damage to the driver's side.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Columbus Fire Department at 706-653-3520.
