GOP endorses Foley for Gov., Bacchiochi for Lt. Gov.

UNCASVILLE, CT (WFSB) -

Greenwich businessman Tom Foley was officially endorsed as the Republican nominee to challenge incumbent Dannel Malloy in November elections.

Foley received the nomination at the Republican convention Saturday in Uncasville.

Challengers John McKinney of Fairfield and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton also received enough votes to primary Foley.

State rep Penny Bacchiochi won the endorsement for Lt. Governor, while challengers Heather Somers and David Walker also are eligible to primary Bacchiochi.

Foley ran against Malloy in 2010 and lost by a slim margin of just over 6,000 votes. A recent Q-Poll, released by Quinnipiac University showed both Malloy and Foley deadlocked in a potential race.

Foley's endorsement came a day after Litchfield businessman Mark Greenberg was endorsed in the 5th District and Dan Debicella in the 4th district.

Both Foley and Malloy will be guests on a special live edition of Face the State with Dennis House on Sunday morning.
