SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) -

Three dogs accused of mauling a Smiths Station woman to death have been put down.

District Judge Russell Bush said the pit bulls were euthanized sometime after 6 p.m. Friday, May 16.

The dogs were allegedly involved in the attack of 20-year-old Katie Morrison last month in Phenix City.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says the decision to euthanize the dogs was made by their owners.
