Russell Co. hosts Be Ready Day for weather preparedness

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Being weather ready is always important.

Earlier this week we saw how severe weather can come at an instant, after the city of Eufaula was threatened by a tornado warning.

The Russell County emergency management agency held its annual Be Ready Day on Saturday, May 17.

"This is our second year doing this event and with the participation that we're getting this is gonna continue on next year and for the foreseeable future," said Bob Franklin, Director of Russell County Emergency Agency. "This is just great for the public to get this kind of information and to get the feedback from them too as what we can do better and improve on things."

Storm Team 9 members were also on hand with a message of safety and not just for weather, but also how to be prepared in case of fire or other dangerous circumstances.
