State Superintendent candidate, Columbus native visits Fountain City

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus native running for Georgia State School Superintendent made a visit to her hometown Monday.

Nancy Jester made an appearance at the Columbus Library today. Jester is a 1988 graduate of Pacelli High School who's been serving in DeKalb County.

Jester tells News Leader 9 she has some big plans for the state's school system if she is elected.

"I think I'm the only one who knows how to improve the result for kids and taxpayers," Jester said. "Because we are spending more for people than every state that boarders us and we have a lower graduation rate than every state that boarders us. So, we know something is wrong in the state of Georgia."

A total of 15 people are running for the Georgia State Superintendent position.

Jester is one of nine candidates on the Republican ballot.
