US Senate candidate Karen Handel visits Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Candidates hoping to be the next United States Senator from the State of Georgia have made one last push to get votes in Columbus.

Candidate Karen Handel stopped in the Fountain City on Monday, May 19, during her state-wide fly-around.

Handle says traveling and campaigning is time-consuming, but it must be done to bring about change.

"It's a lot of hard work, but it's all worth it, because we know that so much is at stake for Georgia and for our country. We are at a real crossroads where we better get serious about restoring fiscal stability and rebooting this economy in a way that can really start creating good, quality jobs," Handel says.

Handel is one of seven Republican candidates looking to fill retiring Senator Saxby Chambliss' seat. Candidate David Perdue also stopped in Columbus on Monday to speak with voters.

Four candidates are running for the Democratic nomination as well.
