COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Memorial Day, we memorialize our nation's fallen heroes. The Fountain City's National Infantry Museum is hosting events all day long.
It starts at 9 a.m. with a Memorial Day mini camp. Kids ages 9 to 11 will get the chance to learn about military history and appreciation through games and activities. At 10 a.m. there will be a paver dedication ceremony where more than 100 granite pavers will be dedicated on Heritage Walk. And later, local Boy Scouts will officially retire battered and torn flags at the fire pit behind the museum.
In addition to the ceremonies, the museum's Imax Theatre at Patriot Park will be showing two historical documentaries: "D-Day 3D Normandy 1944", which is about the allied invasion on the beaches of Normandy; and "We the People" that tells the story of our nation's founding documents and the people who wrote it.
