COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - No. 2 Auburn-Montgomery rebounded from a first game loss to defeat No. 6 William Carey 10-6 to claim the championship at the NAIA Softball World Series played at South Commons Stadium in Columbus.
Warhawks first baseman Jade Sasser, who played her high school softball at Northside, had a two-run single to key a four-run first inning. Kayla Hale was the other offensive star, blasting a 3-run homer as part of a five-run sixth inning that gave AUM needed cushion.
The Crusaders mounted a comeback with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh, bringing the tying run to the plate with the bases loaded in the final inning before AUM could seal the deal.
