Red Shoe Run in Columbus benefits Ronald McDonald House of West Georgia

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Red Shoe Run is hoping to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of West Georgia once again.

The 5K took off at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, May 31, from Golden Park, winding all the way toward Fort Benning on the RiverWalk.

Melody Moran, Development Director at the Ronald McDonald House of West Georgia, says the Red Shoe Run exists to help families with children who are ill.

"The House is a home away from home for families that travel here so that their children can be treated in a local hospital," Moran says.

This is the second year for the Red Shoe Run in the Fountain City, and as always, special guest runner Ronald McDonald was there to cheer runners on.
