Maryland eliminates South Carolina from NCAA tournament

South Carolina crumbled Sunday night to Maryland as the Terrapins embarrassed the home team by a score of 10-1 and eliminated the Gamecocks from the NCAA men's baseball tournament.

Maryland delivered the crushing blow to the South Carolina faithful Sunday night after beating the Gamecocks on Saturday night during their first meeting.

South Carolina scored early in the first inning with one, but the team was never able to put it all together. Multiple players were left stranded at the corners as the game went on.

Maryland followed up with two runs in the fourth inning and never looked back, piling on run after run in the later innings to bury the Gamecocks.

Sunday night's loss is the earliest South Carolina has been eliminated from the tournament since 2009.

South Carolina ends the 2014 campaign with 44 wins and 18 losses.
