BLOUNT COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The Alabama Bureau of Investigations is investigating the Blount County Sheriff's Office after allegations that some drug and money evidence had disappeared.

Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington said on Wednesday that he asked the state to investigate the matter.

Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said she also asked the ABI to step in and investigate the situation in February 2013. She said she had concerns over some cases where certain drugs were not available for toxicology.

Casey said during the drug investigation it became apparent that the agents needed to investigate missing money as well.

Paul Jones, District Attorney for Chambers, Macon, Randolph and Tallapoosa counties, has been called in as a special prosecutor on the case.
