COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

An embattled Colbert County principal is ready to get back to work.

Bob Montgomery was put on paid-administrative leave in February. The reasons behind his leave were not disclosed by the superintendent.

The previous week, the school board voted to renew his contract and his attorney said he's ready to get back to school. Now, whether or not Montgomery will return to Colbert Heights Elementary or be transferred to another school is up to the school board.

Montgomery's attorney Tim Case released a statement saying, "Montgomery has done nothing wrong and we contend the actions taken by the superintendent were improper and did not otherwise comply with the law of the state of Alabama."
