MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Some North Alabama voters said they were ushered out of their polling place before the 7 p.m. deadline. Voting officials said that isn't the case.

People at the St. John's Catholic Church polling station in Madison said they were told the polls had closed with 10 minutes remaining on smartphone clocks and watched.

Officials said they closed the polls based on the time indicated on polling machines.

Approximately 10 people did not get to vote. A printout of tabulated votes showed winning or losing in certain races for that station was between 2-3 votes.

"I feel very violated and disappointed that this would happen," said Darnesheia Alexander. "This is the type of thing that you hear about, but you never experience. I am shocked and appalled."

We reached out to the Madison County Judge Probate's Office about this concern. They told us the polling station closed at 7 p.m., the correct time to close.
