Tide falls to Florida in WCWS Finals

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Alabama softball team fell to Florida, 6-3 to end its season in the championship series of the 2014 Women's College World Series, held in Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Crimson Tide finished the year with a 53-13 record while the Gators win their first national softball championship with a mark of 55-12. It was Alabama's second trip to the championship series in the last three years after winning the first NCAA softball title by a Southeastern Conference school in 2012.

The Gators went up 5-1 early on with one run in the bottom of the first inning and four in the bottom of the second. Senior Kaila Hunt cut into that lead with a solo home run in the top of third. It was the 58th home run of her career, which ties her with Charlotte Morgan (2008-11) for second in Alabama history.

Senior All-American Jaclyn Traina took the loss for Alabama in the pitching circle, pushing her record to 26-5 on the season, while Delanie Gourley picked up the win for Florida, going to 15-1 while Hannah Rogers picks up the save, her second of the season.
