Coaches, players counting down to kickoff

MACON, GA (WALB) -

It's only the beginning of June but it's never too early to talk a little college football.

That's what was going on at the Pigskin Preview in Macon Tuesday morning.

Coaches and players from all 18 college football programs in the state of Georgia were on hand at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to discuss the upcoming season.

From Reinhardt to Georgia, every program had one thing in common: an optimism about the 2014 campaign and a desire to kick off.

"It doesn't seem that long away does it?" laughs Georgia head coach Mark Richt. "It's going to happen fast, but it gives us time to prepare to do the things we're going to do in the offseason."

"It's exciting because you know your guys are going through summer workouts right now," says Valdosta State head coach David Dean. "It's right around the corner and we're excited about it."

The first game on the college football schedule is Abilene Christian at Georgia State on Wednesday,  August 27. The first Saturday of the season is August 30.
