(WTVM) - The most talked about campaign in east Alabama was the House District 79 race, which has been surrounded with corruption allegations.
Despite the allegations, incumbent Mike Hubbard still came out on top, winning 60 percent of the vote and beating out challenger Sandy Toomer.
Hubbard's friends and family gathered in his home Tuesday night to celebrate his 20 percent win over Toomer, a local businessman. Hubbard says this was the toughest election he has faced since he first came to office in 1998.
Toomer called Hubbard earlier Tuesday evening to congratulate him for his win. He said he will fully support Hubbard in the general election in November.
