Columbus firefighters run to raise money for MDA

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The heat didn't stop some of Columbus' finest firefighters from taking a run for a good cause.

The Columbus Firefighter's Association hit the pavement on Broadway in full gear Saturday morning to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The 5K walk and run is the first event of a month-long mission to bring awareness to the condition.

One of the participants of the run told us that he appreciates the help that the MDA does for him and other people living with the muscular dystrophy.

The fun doesn't stop with today's race, on June 18th there will be a burger battle at Smokey Bones Bar and Grill. The competition will be between the Columbus Fire Department and the Fraternal Order of Police.
