COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It started out as a simple song… then organizers say it turned into an album and now a movement.
It's called "COLuminati," which signifies Columbus united as one, a hip-hop organization dedicated to bringing artists in Columbus together in a positive way.
Founder - producer Terry Jefferson says the goal of COLuminati is to help local artists sharpen their skills and become better role models in the community.
"We're going to expand eventually but right now we're just trying to unify mainly the hip hop community since it has such a bad rep, but eventually we'll be able to expand into other genres of music and start getting into like feeding kids and everything else, but first things first," Jefferson said. "We're going to take baby steps and start with the hip hop community."
So where did the name come from?
"Illuminati stands for illuminated ones, so we put 'Col' in front to represent Columbus because we're trying to bring light to [the city] and put Columbus on the map."
The video will be released Friday June 13 on Caddy Vision TV. The video release party will be at Club Twisted on Broadway at 10 p.m.
