PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Pearl Police Department executed a search warrant at a house located on Walnut Grove Drive where they found marijuana being harvested.

Police say the investigation began when they received information from Richland Police Department/MBN-HIDTA Group that they had probable cause to draft a search warrant and have it authenticated by Pearl Municipal Court Judge Richard Redfern.

When the search warrant was executed, the search revealed that Stephen Kennedy of Pearl was actively growing marijuana in his workshop behind his house.

Police say that it was clear that he was trying to conceal the harvesting area within the workshop because there was another room inside where the marijuana was. They say there was a door to this additional room that had a ten code digital keyless lock.

Kennedy will be facing charges of manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Currently, the defendant was given no bond for the charges he sustained.

Lt. John Johnson of the Pearl Police Department's Narcotic Division said," This operation could not have been a success without multiple agencies working together to combat the selling and use of illegal drugs".

Lt. Johnson further stated that he would like to thank the following agencies for their intricate roles in this operation:

Richland Police Department
Hinds County Sheriff's Department
