VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A father is sentenced after being charged with the murder of his infant son.

Jamaro South, Sr. of Vicksburg was arrested in December and charged with shaking his 6-month-old to death.

The Vicksburg Post reports a circuit judge ruled that arrest violated South's probation from a previous burglary charge.

That violation led to South being sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 5 years probation.

The trial for the murder case is slated for September 2nd.
