JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good morning! We're off to an excellent start thus far. Winds are light, the skies have sunshine, and the humidity isn't too bad. We'll see highs reaching the upper 80s this afternoon with some building clouds and humidity. Overall, it seems like a decent late spring day!

Our short-lived quiet pattern ends this evening, as we watch a complex of storms approach from the west. Storms could arrive to the western portion of the state during supper time, but the greatest threat will be after dark. We're concerned about some storms that could be strong to severe, generally west of I-55 with gusty winds and hail. Flash flooding is a possibility as well.

Rain and storms will likely be scattered during the Friday morning commute, but by that time the severe threat will have decreased. We'll continue to see isolated rain and storms through the weekend.
