WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department are searching for a person who is accused of shooting a man in the chin Wednesday night.

According to police, a man and a woman were in the 1200 block of Dahlia Court around 9:20 p.m. looking for someone. As they were leaving, a person approached the driver side of the vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim, Robert Thomas Bateman, 29, and told him to give up his money.

The suspect fired a gun after Bateman drove off. Bateman was hit in the chin/jaw area, and drove himself to the hospital.

The suspect is being described as a person with short hair, a Goatee, middle 20s, no shirt, but wearing jeans.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who is being charged with armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and discharging in an occupied vehicle.
