Roommate stabbed during argument over NBA game

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

According to a police report, a Phenix City man was stabbed by his roommate while watching the NBA halftime game on June 10.

Roommates James Manning and Donnie Cook began to argue and fight during halftime, which resulted in Manning being stabbed in the abdomen with a steak knife, the report states.

Manning went to bed that night and called for an ambulance the next morning because he was not feeling well. He was transported to the Medical Center with a minor puncture wound.

A witness said he did not see Cook stab Manning. Cook told authorities that he remembers throwing a knife at Manning, but does not recall stabbing him. He says Manning did not tell him that he was stabbed.

Manning does not want to press charges.
