A task force made up of local authorities and federal agents teamed up to arrest the alleged notorious criminal, Heath Holloway, who has been on the run since May 10.

Holloway was taken into custody across from the Courts of Praise Worship Center on Lee Road 456 at about 5 p.m Friday.

"We've been looking for him day and night.  Today, we finally got some information about where he was. We've been chasing him through the woods for about seven hours now," said Robert Casteel, Assistant Chief of the Phenix City Police Dept.

The manhunt for Holloway began in Salem near Lee Road 640. The search then moved down to Highway 280 near Phenix City as authorities received a tip that he may have been picked up in a vehicle.

Investigators believe at least two separate people gave Holloway rides to evade their search effort.  One of those drivers was questioned at the scene when Holloway was arrested. He claims he didn't know Holloway was trying to get away from police.

Casteel said Holloway also used a white SUV which they believe was waiting for him in the Shadow Woods neighborhood.  He said Holloway stashed it there in case he was ever in the area and needed a quick escape.

Holloway will be in Lee County court for his first appearance on Monday.  Sheriff Jones said he is pushing for the highest possible bond.
