"Put Down the Guns and Pick Up the Gloves" is a charity boxing event Saturday night to help put an end to violence and encourage education among young people in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Nate Tubbs Events & Promotions has teamed up with promoter Barry Isaacs to hold the U.S. Army sponsored professional boxing event, in which 30 percent of the proceeds will go to help the re-launching efforts of the Nate Tubbs Group Home & Amateur Boxing Program (NTGH).
The event features one of Cincinnati's rising stars as the undefeated (5-0-1) Mel "Black Diamond" Crossty takes steps towards his quest of a title shot. Isaacs and Crossty visited the FOX19 Weekend Morning News Saturday to show us a thing or two.
With the escalation of gun violence by youth in the Greater Cincinnati area, Issacs said the NTGH charity aims to provide much-needed housing, mentoring and educational support services.
Event Details: 6 p.m.-midnight Saturday. Hope 4 Change, 4100 Reading Rd., North Avondale. $25, $35 VIP. (513) 861-4673.
