GA soldier among five killed in Afghanistan

A 28-year-old soldier from Butler, Ga. was killed in Afghanistan on June 9 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Jason McDonald and four other soldiers were killed in Gaza Village while engaging in a combat operation. The incident is still under investigation.

Staff Sgt. McDonald was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group in Fort Campbell, KY.

The other deceased are Staff Sgt. Scott Studenmund, 24, of Pasadena, Calif.; Spc. Junstin Helton, 25, of Beaver, Ohio; Cpl. Justin Clouse, 22, of Sprague, Wash.; and Pvt. 2nd Class Aaron Toppen, 19, of Mokena, Ill.
