VALLEY, AL (WTVM) - On June 17 at approximately 2:20 p.m. CST, the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested 20-year-old William Michael Reaves of Valley for theft of property in the first degree, criminal trespassing in the second degree and a probation violation.
Earlier that day at approximately 12:06 p.m. CST, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a citizen in the 1600 block of Lee Road 375 who reported that they saw a white male in a red pickup truck trying to remove an air conditioning unit from a vacant home in their neighborhood.
The responding deputies executed a traffic stop on a truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle a short distant away from the victim's home. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Reaves.
Deputies discovered that the victim's outside air conditioner unit had been pulled off of its foundation, damaging the unit, concrete base, and home. The straps used to remove the unit were still attached to the unit on the ground. Reaves was linked to this crime after being identified by the witnesses and he was formally charged with committing this crime.
Reaves is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $5,500 bond.
