Mallard Creek wins Panthers' 7 on 7 Tournament

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Friday at the Panthers practice facility, they held their annual 7 on 7 high school passing tournament.

12 teams from both North and South Carolina battled it out.

Numerous state champs from last season participated including Charlotte Christian.

Defending 4AA Champ Mallard Creek was also in the house and would play well as they advanced to the top 8.

Defending Division 2 4A Champ in South Carolina Northwestern would show well today but failed to make the top 8.

Statesville was one of the few teams that didn't play for a state title last season, but would make the top 8. They lost in the quarterfinals to Christian.

In the end, Mallard Creek would take on Dorman in a re-match of last years finals and the Mavericks would win this time 42-35 to win the title. They now head to Indianapolis July 13-16th for the "National" Tournament.
