RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

Former Phenix City Superintendent Dr. Larry DiChiara will appear in Russell County court on Monday, June 23.

DiChiara claims the school board promised to buy out his contract, and reneged.

He was fired by the Phenix City school board in November 2013. He claims the school board agreed to buy out his contract, paying him severance and other compensation, but they went back on that promise. DiChiara says, he is owed around $750,000.

He filed a lawsuit naming all seven members of the school board as defendants, but that lawsuit was dismissed. Not backing down, he then filed another lawsuit which will go before a judge.

The case will be heard at 3 p.m. in Judge Al Johnson's courtroom. News Leader 9 will be there and will have updates on that outcome.
