2 Toots Train Whistle Grill and 1 Vet At a Time show how veterans can realize the American dream of being a business owner, one vet at a time.

Glen Ellyn, IL (PRWEB) June 24, 2014

Over one million unemployed veterans currently live in the United States. Another one million veterans retiring from duty are expected to join that group in the next 5 years. Additionally, 22 veterans commit suicide every day. That number is considered to be grossly under-reported.

The people who continually risked their lives to protect the freedoms of their fellow Americans are being treated poorly. Despite their discipline, reliability, sense of duty, honor, and ability to get the job done, veterans are being shunned for employment.

This reality begs the question. What resources are available to a veteran, to not only realize gainful employment, but experience the part of the American dream that they risked their lives to protect?

Dale Eisenberg, Mike Ventre and Lynn Lowder - of 2Toots Train Whistle Grill in Illinois - found an answer to this question. According to Lowder, a Marine veteran and current Chief Operations Officer, "We can help veterans realize the American dream of owning and operating their own business one vet at a time."

And, Lowder, Eisenberg and Ventre back their words up by securing significant sums of money to lend to veterans who have served their country. Through their newly launched 501c(3) pending foundation, Eisenberg, Lowder and Ventre partnered with Ridgestone Bank to invest in Army veteran, Shaun Garry. Garry is the recipient of over 14 medals, ribbons and badges, including the Purple heart. Garry was also a victim of five, IED - improvised explosive device - explosions.

Despite his dedication, work ethic, and ability, Garry was consistently denied employment opportunity. Enter Eisenberg, Ventre and Lowder. Now, Garry and his wife, Stacy, are the proud owner operators of a 2Toots Train Whistle Grill business in Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and, they will be celebrating Illinois Veteran Wounded Warrior Weekend at their new business on June 28-29, 2014.

With more than one million veterans transitioning from active duty to the civilian workforce over the next five years, and Iraq and Afghanistan veteran unemployment well above the national average, we have to take action today, said Garry.

According to Garry, Most of these vets have served our nation in a time of war, and we have the duty to welcome them home, show them our thanks, and ensure they are integrated back into our communities. One way to do this is by giving them a shot at a job or the opportunity to become their own boss. Thats what 2 Toots is all about.

For the many veterans who are feeling desperate, helpless or even hopeless, there is hope. Through 1 Vet At a Time, military veterans will be able to realize the American dream they risked their lives to defend. And, Eisenberg, Ventre and Lowder will spend the rest of their lives helping to make that happen.
