MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

The Meriwether County Sheriff announced the discovery of two marijuana growing operations this month.

On June 12, authorities from the Meriwether Sheriff's Department and Governor's Marijuana Task Force obtained a search warrant for a home on Glavine Street in Greenville, Ga. after a task force helicopter spotted marijuana plants growing along the wood line.

Ground units then located live plants outside the home and other items indicative of an indoor grow operation. A greenhouse and processed marijuana with an estimated street value of $283,000 were also discovered inside the home. Forty-one plants and 22 pounds of processed marijuana were recovered in total.

Police also discovered a second grow operation on Trammel Road in Pine Mountain. An additional 15 marijuana plants with a street value of $67,500 were seized.

A total of 56 plants and 22 pounds of processed marijuana were recovered from both locations.

A suspect, 74-year-old James Atherton, was arrested at the scene and charged with possession and manufacturing of marijuana. He is currently detained at the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office Jail.

Police are currently searching for a second suspect, 47-year-old Lanny Adams, Jr., for his connection to this crime. Adams is described as a 6' 1" white male who weighs 192 lbs. He is known to frequent the Henry County and Coweta County, Ga. areas.

Anyone with information on Adams' whereabouts should contact the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office at (706) 672-4489 or call 911.
