Miss Georgia gets right to work

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

Less than a week after winning the crown, the new Miss Georgia is already busy.

Decatur County native Maggie Bridges says, as the oldest of five siblings, being a role model sort of comes natural.

Bridges got to work right away promoting her platform of volunteerism.

"I am a go-getter and I felt like it was smart to go ahead while I had the momentum of the press," she said.  "People being so excited about me being Miss Georgia, to go right ahead and create my Facebook page, twitter, Instagram. I really want people to be able to follow my year."

Bridges is thankful for the outpouring of support from south Georgians.  She looks forward to traveling the state in her brand new car.

She wants to name the new ride and is looking for suggestions on her Facebook page.
