Carmike Cinemas hosts World Cup watch party for USA/Belgium match

(WTVM) -

As the United States took on Belgium in the World Cup on Tuesday afternoon, residents in Columbus and Auburn watched the match for free on the big screen.

We were at Carmike 15 in Columbus and spoke to a few members of the crowd who have the American spirit!

"The US is definitely going to win this game, they've got a lot of potential," said Columbus High student and soccer player Ruben.

"They're going to win the whole World Cup," added Drew, who also plays soccer for Columbus High.

"I don't play soccer or anything but I just love watching the games," said Columbus High student Dominique. "You know, when the USA scores and everybody freaks out, it's just cool to be in, cool to be a part of."

The Carmike 15 theater in Columbus and the Wynnsong 14 Carmike Cinema in Auburn will be showing the U.S.A. vs. Belgium game on July 1 at 4 EST, 3 CDT.

A special World Cup concession combo was available for all attendees, which consisted of a medium sized drink and a medium sized popcorn for just $10.

During halftime, Carmike employees raffled off movie tickets, soccer balls, T-shirts, and more.
