No injuries reported after fire at Club Hill Apartments

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - News Leader 9 was on the scene of a fire at Club Hill Apartments early Tuesday afternoon, July 1.

We spoke with Fire Marshall Ricky Shores, who says the fire has been put out and there are no reported injuries.

Columbus Fire Department and EMS responded to the fire on Warm Springs road at 12:39 p.m.

"Upon arrival, two of the apartment units were heavily involved in fire and moving into a third," describes Shores. "We have extensive damage, smoke and fire damage, to those two units. It appears at this point to be an accidental fire. A cooking related fire."

Thirty-five firefighters were on the scene earlier battling the fire and the heat of the day.

Only one person was in the apartment at the time.

The building housed six apartments with upstairs and downstairs levels. The apartment where the fire started has been completely gutted, and adjoining apartments were evacuated as a precaution. Several units have smoke and water damage.
