MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - A man sentenced to life in prison for a 2006 murder in Muscogee County says he deserves a new trial.
In 2007, a judge sent a message about "snitching" by sentencing Steven Rouse to life in prison for the 2006 murder of Scottie Gillen.
The judge handed down lesser sentences to four others involved in the crime who gave information to help put away Rouse.
Now, Rouse is appealing his conviction. He claims he deserves a new trial because the judge made an improper statement during jury selection about where the crime was committed.
