COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Residents across the Valley came together to help kids get ready for school.
The Build A Backpack Back to School Drive was at LV bar and grill in Midland. Their goal was to get 1,000 backpacks filled with needed supplies for the upcoming school year.
The combined effort was between LV, Subway, Yogli Mogli and Davinos Pizzeria. The restaurants were offering 10% off food purchases with school supply donations.
Angie Ortiz, manager of LV Bar & Grill says, "There is a lot of kids that less fortunate. They cannot do it themselves, parents cannot do it. Single mothers, fathers whoever might be and school can be expensive. So we figure we help anyway we could."
They will have a Youth Jam July 12 to end their annual back to school outreach program.
