HOUSTON, July 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kindred Hospital Spring, with Wound Care Specialists, is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient wound healing center.  The wound healing center provides outpatient services to people with chronic or hard to heal wounds. Chronic wounds include diabetic foot wounds which can lead to amputation, lower leg wounds related to blood flow issues, post-surgical wounds which have delayed closure, and traumatic injury wounds which are complex in nature.

Last year, over eight million people suffering from chronic wounds were treated in the United States, and that number continues to grow. As the prevalence of complicating conditions such as diabetes, obesity, lower leg vascular diseases and heart disease rises, so do the numbers of associated wounds.

The staff of medical professionals at Kindred Hospital Spring have extensive training in the field of wound healing and bring a comprehensive range of medical services to the community.  The goal of the wound center is to increase wound healing rates, prevent lower extremity amputations and improve patients' quality of life.

The Kindred Hospital Spring wound healing center is a joint effort with Wound Care Specialists, a national wound care company that provides comprehensive wound services for hospitals and long term care facilities for advanced wound healing and limb preservation. Wound Care Specialists provides wound healing services for more than 90 wound centers nationwide.
