AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The family of a man who died after Richmond County deputies shocked him five times with a stun gun is demanding justice.

George Harvey's family held a protest Monday in front of the John H. Ruffin Courthouse.

"I wake up every day thinking about my brother. It's just something fresh. It's not going to go away and I'm dealing with it," said Jerry Harvey.

Harvey, 39, went into cardiac arrest on June 30, 2013 after he was shocked several times, according to the Richmond County Coroner.

"My brother's death certificate says homicide and we all know what homicide means. When another human being kills another human being," Jerry said.

The family argues that Deputy Matthew Sanderson used a stun gun against George Harvey.

"He flagged the officer down," said Jerry. "The officer came over and he said my brother wouldn't listen to him but my brother stopped him for help. He pulled out his taser, tased my brother multiple times leading to his death."

The sheriff's office put three deputies on leave while the incident was being investigated, but the family says they were never given any further explanation from the sheriff's office or the district attorney.

The family says they will stand in protest until justice is served.

"We're going to keep pushing," said Chiffon Pope, George Harvey's fiance. "We're going to try to get maybe Al Sharpton, Nancy Grace; We're going to push this thing forward. I will not be silent and my kids definitely won't be silent."
