HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Citizens of Horry County may be able to enjoy a day outdoors without the annoyance of mosquitoes this summer.

Horry County will begin aerial mosquito spraying in Little River on either Wednesday, July 9 or Thursday, July 10, depending on the weather. The spraying will last from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The chemicals are EPA approved and pose little risk to humans and animals. Individuals with asthma and other repertory illnesses are advised to stay inside, close all windows and doors during spraying. Fruits and vegetables grown at the home should be washed, scrubbed and peeled before consumption. Beekeepers should contact Horry County Mosquito and Spraying to identify the location of colonies in order to preserve the honeybee population.
