Springer Children's Theatre presents "Charlotte's Web"

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Springer Children's Theatre is presenting the story of what they say is: "The world's first web site".

"Charlotte communicates through her web, so Charlotte's Web must be the story of the world's first web site," a representative tells News Leader 9.

Charlotte's Web runs at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 11 and 12, 18 and 19 and 25 and 26, and at 2 p.m. Sundays, July 13, 20 and 27. All performances are in the McClure Theatre, the Springer's second theatre. The entrance to the McClure Theatre is on 1st Ave., right behind the Springer.

In E.B. White's much-loved story about friendship, Charlotte is a spider who attempts to save her friend, Wilbur the pig, by writing mysterious messages praising Wilbur in her web.

In 2000, Publishers Weekly listed the book version of Charlotte's Web as the best-selling children's paperback of all time.

This production of the Springer Theatre for Young People Series is the first production of the State Theatre of Georgia's 2014-15 season. The first production of the Springer's Mainstage Series is Shrek The Musical, which runs Sept. 18 through Oct. 4.
