HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

We now have more details in the case of a pedestrian found deceased on the side of I-85 in Harris County wearing only a t-shirt and undergarments.

The incident took place on June 16.

Authorities testified Wednesday at a preliminary hearing in Harris County the victim Darryl Love was believed to have been dumped on the highway after his life was taken elsewhere.

However, police say evidence proves someone hit him and simply drove away.

A few days later, Caderrickton Barnes turned himself in. He reportedly told police he thought he hit someone.

Police claim Barnes tried to cover up the incident by fixing the damage caused to his 2000 silver Pontiac Grand Prix.

His attorney Maria Hunter argues the father of three turned himself in even though he was never a suspect, and is cooperating with authorities to resolve the case.

"Mr. Barnes and his family do deeply regret the loss," Hunter said. "We're in the preliminary stages of this case so we don't have that much information; we're still investigating the case. He still absolutely maintains his innocence."

Barnes' bond has been reduced to $75,000.

Conditions of his bond include: he must wear an ankle monitoring bracelet, have no contact with the victim's family, and distance himself from drugs and alcohol.

Barnes' case has been forwarded to Superior Court.
