Fire caused by lightning destroys shed

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

News Leader 9 was on the scene after a fire in Phenix City.

The Smiths Station Fire Department responded to the scene Wednesday evening.

Chief Johnson with Smiths Station Fire Department tells us that the fire was caused after lightning struck a shed located behind a house Lee Road 219.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom when the lightning struck.

No one was injured, and there was no damage to neighboring houses or the homeowner's, but the shed is reported as a total loss.

The homeowner was not home when the fire started.
